Summary
Candida auris (Candidozyma auris) is an urgent global health threat because it persists on skin, spreads efficiently in healthcare settings, and frequently resists antifungal treatment. These traits have driven outbreaks worldwide and made life-threatening invasive infections increasingly difficult to manage.
This review examines the molecular basis of multidrug resistance in C. auris and related emerging fungal pathogens. It synthesizes current knowledge of clinical resistance mechanisms and highlights recent progress in antifungal drug discovery and therapeutic strategies that may improve clinical management.
